Malaysia Haze Meter — Live Air Quality by Area
Live air-quality and haze levels for major areas across Malaysia, colour-coded by severity and updated hourly. Readings use the US AQI scale derived from PM2.5 and PM10.
AQI is the US EPA Air Quality Index from modelled PM2.5/PM10 — a fast nationwide overview, not the official DOE Air Pollutant Index (API). For the official reading see apims.doe.gov.my. Air-quality data by Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0).
How to use
- The meter loads live readings for major Malaysian areas automatically.
- Each card shows the area's AQI, severity band and PM2.5 level.
- Areas are sorted worst-first; tap Refresh for the latest hourly update.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the official DOE API reading?
No. This meter uses modelled air-quality data (US AQI from PM2.5/PM10) for a fast nationwide overview, not the Department of Environment's official Air Pollutant Index (API). For the official, legally-recognised reading, check apims.doe.gov.my.
What do the colours mean?
Green (0–50) is good, yellow (51–100) moderate, orange (101–150) unhealthy for sensitive groups, red (151–200) unhealthy, purple (201–300) very unhealthy and maroon (301+) hazardous — the standard US AQI bands.
How often does it update?
The underlying data refreshes hourly. The meter fetches the latest values each time you open or refresh the page.
